Even more congratulations!
Edinburgh Accies are extremely pleased to see David Denton making his first start for Scotland in the Calcutta Cup match at Murrayfield on Saturday.
Zimbabwe-born David Kipling Denton, arrived at Accies as an 18 year old in January 2009 and played the rest of that season in the 2XV. The following season he made the 1XV and was selected for Scotland U20s - starting in every one of the U20 Six Nations and all IRB Junior World Championship matches in Argentina.
After signing for Edinburgh Rugby in 2010/11 Denton made his Scotland A debut as a replacement in the 25-0 win over USA Eagles before being selected for the 2010/11 Scotland 7s squad for the opening Dubai and George tournaments where he helped Scotland lift the 2010/11 Emirates Airline South Africa 7s Bowl.
He won his first cap for Scotland as a second-half substitute in the EMC Test win against Ireland at Murrayfield in August 2011. Some climb to the top - well done David.
As happens there are in total five who have played for Accies and/or the Academy, at one time or another, in the Scotland 22. Along with David are Nick DeLuca, Ross Rennie, Mike Blair and Greig Laidlaw (who played for Accies as a Pro from Edinburgh).
Congratulations to all of them.
