Match Preview NL7: Howe of Fife v Accies

The first half, at least, of last week's game against Stew Mel looked as if it was not going to go our way. On paper, playing the team at the bottom of the league, who had not won a game, should have been easy. In the end we came away with the bonus point win we needed, but we certainly made it difficult for ourselves - and our spectators.

This week we are away to Howe of Fife, another team that has yet to win this season. They have two points, one a losing bonus and one from a try bonus, compared to our 26. They are sitting one place off the bottom of the league, we are joint second. Again, on paper, this should be a foregone conclusion for us, but as last week emphatically proved, such things do not exist in rugby.

We need to stay focused, play our game and, above all, not be complacent.

Coach’s comments:

Changes a plenty across the board for us this week, mostly forced due to injury and unavailability.  Shaun Gunn makes his first start at loose head, on the back of two very good performances off the bench, and Neil Harrison also makes his first start after impressing against Stew Mel. This week also sees the return of Alex Glashan after a short-term contract at Worcester Warriors.

Howe of Fife have the ability and potency in their attack to challenge us for the full 80 and so mentally we need to be prepare for that.  We will be focussing on nuts and bolts; getting our basics right and letting the score take care of its self.

Our team for this week:
