Mini Rugby Section

Welcome!

I extend a warm welcome to all newcomers starting this season and a welcome return to all those who are back to have more fun and enjoy some good rugby at the Edinburgh Accies Mini Rugby Section. I hope you are all looking forward to the new season and we are confident that we can continue to provide a fun and safe environment to develop your skills.

Last season saw many new faces getting involved at the Minis, allowing us to run two teams at some year groups. We also saw some new additions to our coaching team that provided a much welcomed boost.

This season we have a full calendar of events both on and off the pitch. Training commences on 21st August at 10.30am and our fixture list will include many tournaments, including our own towards the middle of March 2011.

We will have our ‘Welcome BBQ’ on Sunday 4th September after training where we will also operate a Kit exchange as well as having some new kit available for purchase. Prices are £20 for old kit and £40 for new kit. As with previous seasons, we will also have a Xmas Party at the Sports Centre at the Academy Junior School on December 18th and a ‘Parents vs. Kids’ touch rugby event to finish off the season. These are fun events for all the family, which help develop a strong club community and provide support to the boys as they progress in the sport.

We are a parent and helper-led club and we rely on your support to keep the club functioning. We would hope to have at least 3 parents at each age group to help out with the coaching as that allows the coaches to rotate and have the odd weekend off. For anyone interested in getting involved in coaching you do not require previous experience of playing rugby and we will pay for SRU coaching courses to aid the process. Perhaps you can go from mini coach to professional coach like Sean Lineen?! Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you wish to contribute. If coaching is not your thing, there are many other ways you could help out - at tournaments and social events - so please offer your support when you can.
