BATs’ Review 10 December 2015

Schools’ Rugby

Our school delivery programme was somewhat curtailed last week, due to the weather. However, we did our best not to let the elements get the better of us.

Trinity Academy: Restricted training due to the weather gave us time to do Functional Movement Screening (FMS) with each of our year groups at the School of Rugby. FMS allows us to measure progress through each pupil’s time with us and provides us with hard evidence of the benefits of our involvement.

Even in the poor conditions every age group also managed to get some rugby in. Unfortunately Saturday’s games against Stew Mel were all cancelled due to pitch conditions, but the boys will still have a chance to play them as the games have been rescheduled for this Saturday, following Dunbar’s cancellation of fixtures.

Drummond High School ASC: We had another great session at Drummond High School last Friday afternoon. The numbers attending are increasing every week and enthusiasm is high.

Broughton Primary School: Monday saw the last of our most recent sessions here. We have seen an encouraging level of game development amongst the children who have been attending the weekly sessions.

BATs’ Youth Section

Last Wednesday’s weather saw our planned session at Raeburn Place moved to the RAF Hall. However, the weather did not put the boys off and we had another consistent turn out. We were also in the RAF Hall this week. We have been working on fitness, decision making and handling under pressure for the past few weeks and there has been a tangible improvement. This has been evident not just in the boys’ skill level but also in their understanding of how best to execute in different situations with ruthlessness and maturity.

There will an extra training session for the BATs’ U16s this Sunday, 11.00-12.00 at Raeburn Place. This is in preparation for their Bowl final, which will take place on the back pitches at Murrayfield on Sunday 20 December, kick-off 2.00pm.

BATs U16s will play their Bowl final on Sunday 20 December at Murrayfield, kp 2pm.
