CLUB

This week is a busy one for the club, with three scheduled fixtures. The first game was on Wednesday evening, when the U16s beat Heriot’s 27-5 in a regional cup match. The fixture was played under the floodlights at Meggetland. Congratulations to all involved.

We also have two games on Sunday. The U16s are in action again, this time against a touring team from Kirby Lonsdale, and in the afternoon the S1s have the return leg of their fixture against Heriot’s. Good luck to all the boys. Please come and support if you can.

Good luck as well to Accies Mini player, Jack (P2), who is one of the Scotland mascots for the Italy game on Saturday. We hope he enjoys the experience.

SCHOOLS

The majority of sessions at Trinity Academy’s School of Rugby are now building towards the school 7s season. There are a few tournaments coming up, with the first one for the U18s on Friday 24 March.

Broughton High School’s delivery to both S1 and S2 has been focusing on a safe approach to tackle technique, as well as other areas of the game such as the development of the scrum and lineout (non lifting).

The Broughton after school rugby club continues to grow, which means we are able to seek more development fixtures for the children involved. Following the recent Broughton HS v Trinity Academy S1 match, this week we have organised a mini, round robin tournament for the S1s from Broughton, Trinity, Firrhill and Gracemount senior schools. The tournament takes place at Bangholm tomorrow, Friday 17 March, ko 14.00.

Our MA continues our work in local primary schools and has been running after school and lunchtime clubs at Flora Stevenson, Trinity, Wardie, Broughton and Ferry Hill. All the schools will meet at Bangholm on Friday24 March for the second in our series of small-sided tournaments. The first was held at Raeburn Place and was a big success with the young players.

Jack, who plays for Accies Minis P2s, is very excited about being a mascot at the Scotland v Italy game
