CLUB

Unfortunately, the club side of thing has been very quiet due to the adverse weather conditions, which meant we could not train at Raeburn Place and resulted in the cancellation of planned games through in Glasgow. However, training is currently underway for the S1s and we have our fingers crossed for this coming weekend’s fixtures for the S1s and S2s against Heriot’s.

SCHOOLS

School of Rugby at Trinity Academy:

We have finally managed to get a few lessons outside, allowing us to play a variety of games of touch. Our programme across all age groups continues to be focused on S&C, looking at body management with the S1-3 groups and looking at developing circuits with S4+. We are following a similar programme to our ACE Academy players.

Games were cancelled again last weekend but the school players are chomping at the bit to get back into matches, ahead of this week’s fixtures against Stewart’s Melville. This will be a tough test against strong opposition.

Broughton High School:

We now have four different girls’ rugby classes being delivered at the school within their PE timetable. This has led to a significant improvement in standards and has seen participation levels increasing even with the horrible weather conditions. Full credit to the work that Sula and Snowflake have been doing with these groups.

The U14s are looking forward to taking part in this Friday’s tier 4 competition, organised by Edinburgh Rugby. Good luck to the players involved.

Primary Schools:

Our primary school delivery, with lunch and after-school clubs, will be starting up again soon and will be open to P5s as well as P6s this term. We have three more mini tournaments planned, which will take place at a various venues. In addition, depending on numbers and performance, we will enter two of the primary schools into a city-wide competition.
