Dr David Douglas Walker, 1934-2015

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Dr David Douglas Walker at home, on Friday 25 September.

Douglas Walker played rugby for Accies in the late 1950s and early 1960s and was a member of the 1956/57 Accies team that was almost as successful as the 1955/56 team that won the unofficial Scottish Club Championship.

In 1957 Douglas played stand off for Accies in the Centenary Match against an International XV, with future internationalist Stan Coughtrie at scrum half and then-current internationalist Tommy McClung at inside centre. Douglas scored a good try after a dummy drop at goal. Later that season he was also a member of the Accies 7 that was invited to play at the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham.

The service, to which all are welcome, is at Warriston Crematorium, Lorimer Chapel, on Wednesday 7 October at 3 pm. Family flowers only please, but a retiring collection will be taken for Macmillan Cancer Care.

We send our deepest condolences to his wife Jenny, his son and daughter David and Rachael and their families.
