Project Manager, Marquees & Festive Lighting

Field & Lawn is one of the UK’s largest marquee hire companies in the UK, servicing the corporate and public sector. It also provides installation services for festive lighting displays. We have branches in Edinburgh, Manchester and Bristol and are looking for experienced candidates to help continue our expansion in both sectors. 

The Role - Summary

The Project Manager will focus on handling the needs of customers from initial enquiry through to delivery and final removal, ensuring that their needs are understood and delivered to their satisfaction. The role is diverse with responsibility for generating and taking enquiries, establishing the requirements and providing suitable quotations, then following these up to gain the sale. It involves visiting and measuring up potential sites and developing plans that become build schedules for the successful installation, while being the main point of contact with the clients, aiding the development of positive relations to achieve a high percentage of profitable repeat business.

The Project Manager will work closely with the Branch/Lighting Director and other members of the team in order to achieve the stated objectives and targets set.

The hours of work are 08:00am-17:00 Monday-Friday. However, the successful candidate should be willing to field calls as required and to alter their hours to suit the demands of the business. During Christmas-light installations an element of night shift may be required.

The Role - Detail

New Business Development - Responsible for proactively seeking business opportunities and building sound relationships. Play an active role in marketing and advertising strategies.

Relationship Development - Responsible for proactively developing sound relationships with clients to ensure that full requirements are known, communicated and understood to enable delivery to their satisfaction and within established costs.

Enquiries & Quotations – Responsible for efficiently handling enquiries, understanding customer needs and then preparation and timely delivery of appropriate quotations, ensuring the correct authoristion process is adhered to.

Job Costing – Responsible for ensuring quotations are costed accurately and then priced appropriately in order to win the business, whilst also aiming to achieve long term customer value and achieve the targeted returns.

Quote Tracking – Responsible for contacting the prospective clients after initial quotation within a set timeframe to maximise quotation conversion to confirmed sales. Responsible for tracking and forecasting the enquiries accurately using the quote tracking system.

Site Meetings – Responsible for conducting site meetings with the prospective clients, to survey the site including site specific risk assessments and building strong relations.

Contract Ownership – Take complete ownership of the project (including sub-contractors). This from initial contact through to contract completion ensuring customer satisfaction. Will involve starting contracts off, monitoring deliver of installations and follow up meetings.

Key Accounts & National Sales – Responsible for developing the branch key accounts strategy in conjunction with the Key Accounts Director. Also responsible for adhering to the key accounts and national sales procedures.

The Person

Due to the nature of the role, it is of prime importance that the successful candidate is an excellent communicator and a well organised individual capable of excellent attention to detail. 

The individual will be able to handle and develop customer relations professionally in a time pressured environment and represent the company in a positive manner.

The successful candidate must be willing and capable to learn new skills and procedures from different sides of the business and be flexible to implement that learning in the appropriate manner while adapting to different circumstances.

Previous Experience and Qualifications

We are ideally looking for candidates educated to degree level. Previous experience in either the marquee or festive lighting industry would be of benefit as would experience in working within events or project management.

James Gammell is looking for a polite, strong, able, hard worker to help with Christmas trees between 27 November and 22 December, working five to six days a week. This is a temporart, seasonal role and may therefore suit a student.
