Match Preview NL13: Accies v Jed-Forest

Saturday 17 December, RP, 2pm

This Saturday sees a welcome return to rugby action at Raeburn Place after a long six weeks. And the scene is set for a thrilling encounter against Jed-Forest, who are now second in the league, just one point ahead of us. We will certainly be hoping for the home advantage, in what could be a decisive match in the title race.

Coach's Comments

"Andrew Bell returns to the starting backline but in the unfamiliar 12 position, after impressing last week against Marr. Having two stand offs on the field allows us to bring Jack Paterson onto the bench to cover the back three, now that his rugby programme with Fettes has come to an end.

"The pack sees only one forced change due to Greg Campbell’s broken hand – the subsequent reshuffle of the back row allows Lawrie Seydak to take a starting spot at number 8. Sam Gibson and James Pearse return to the bench following, respectively, a lengthy concussion and study leave.

"Although we will not dwell on last week’s result we will reflect on the learning opportunity it has given us to tighten up a couple of areas of our game. Training this week has been focused on getting those little things right and drilling down on what we are really good at within our DNA in order to bring that out at Raeburn Place on Saturday.

"Jed poses a real challenge to us, physically and mentally, but it is a real opportunity for us to roll our sleeves up, work hard for each other and leave nothing out there in the hunt for a big performance. There is no doubting the character that is within the squad but we need to couple that with control if we are going to get the outcome that we want at the weekend."
