Match Preview Prem3: Accies v Heriot's

Saturday 15 September
1st XV v Heriot's, RP, 15:00

We are struggling to get out of the starting blocks in terms of league points but both our games so far have shown, with strong second half performances, that we can match our opponents if we believe in ourselves, stay focused and work to eliminate simple mistakes.

Heriot’s have won both their games so far and secured a maximum 10 league points. Whilst it could be argued their opening game against Hawks was a relatively soft start, they had a hard fought win against Watsonians last week that showed their determination and professionalism.

However, whilst a Premiership league fixture is a very different matter to a Cup game, and there is certainly no complacency here, we showed last season that we are capable of giving Heriot’s a run for their money.

Coach's Comments
"Jamie Sole’s unavailability creates room for Sean Hagerty to make his Premiership debut. James Pearse earns a rest on the bench, with Clement Lacour returning to the starting line-up for the first time this season. A reshuffle of our back three allows Cammy Gray to show some of his attacking threat from 13 this week.

"There is no doubt that Heriot’s are the Goliath to our David this weekend, given their league pedigree and sheer size. However, it is derby day and anything can happen."

Our senior team this week:

2nd XV v Cartha Queen's Park, RP, 15:00
Another convincing win by the 2s last week (63-0 against Selkirk A) puts the boys joint top of their league with Currie and looking forward to another good game on Saturday.

3rd XV v Corstorphine Cougars, away, 15:00
The 3s obviously relished their first league outing, scoring 108 points in 60 minutes, at which point the game was halted. Thebans apparently had seven new players in their squad and we hope they will not be too disheartened. This week we are away to Corstorphine Cougars for their first league match of the season, and once more have a full squad available. Long may this enthusiasm amongst the Entertainers continue.

Onwards and upwards!
