Match Preview Prem 1: Aberdeen v Accies

Saturday 7 September
1st XV v Aberdeen, Rubislaw, 15:00
The start of the league season sees the 1st XV make the journey north to Aberdeen. This begins a long campaign on the road for the boys as they accommodate the building works at Raeburn Place by front-loading the season with all our away matches. It is a big ask for the squad and we would ask supporters to do their best to bolster this effort by making the away journeys too.

Due to relocation and Super 6 we have a fairly new looking squad this season but they are starting to come together well and we are optimistic about the season ahead.

Coach's Comments
"A new league, a new group of players and a new coaching team makes for an exciting challenge.

"16 players have moved on during the off-season, due to work commitments and Super 6, and we wish them all well.

"We welcome Sean Crombie, Patrick O’Sullivan and Daniel Winning to the Club, as well as welcoming back some familiar faces in Shaun Gunn, Declan Dinnen, Jack Bruce and Ruairidh Bonner.

1st XV v Aberdeen

2nd XV v Boroughmuir 2nd XV, Meggetland, 15:00
The 2nd XV open their league campaign against Boroughmuir at Meggetland. It will be interesting to see the make-up of Boroughmuir's team, now they are a Super 6 outfit. They certainly had mixed results last season, either fielding a strong team or struggling to get a squad out. They should be a good opening test for our 2s.

3rd XV v Watsonians 2nd XV, Inverleith Park, 15:00
The 3rd XV start the season with a home fixture, although they will be playing in Inverleith Park. Due to Super 6, they also face an unknown quantity in Watsonians 2nd XV. We are pleased to get a team out this early in the season and are sure they will llive up to their alternative name of The Entertainers.
