Match Preview Prem 17: Accies v Selkirk

Saturday 29 February
1st XV v Selkirk, Raeburn Place, 15:00
Thanks to some fine, dry and windy days, the well-drained 1st XV pitch at Raeburn Place is now playable again and we look forward to welcoming Selkirk on Saturday. However, with heavy rain forecast for Friday night and well into Saturday, a pitch inspection will be carried out on Saturday morning. Please watch out for updates on the website and social media.

The game down at Philiphaugh back in November was a nail-biting affair - an early sin-binning for our captain gave Selkirk the lead, forcing us to play catch-up, which we did, edging ahead in the second half to make the score 26-24 to us. Selkirk were awarded a penalty at the death, making a last-minute win for them look inevitable. Fortunately for us, nothing in rugby is ever inevitable - the kick was missed and we came away from the Borders with five league points.

Selkirk will be looking to reverse that result on Saturday. They are currently fourth in the league, but we are only 13 points behind them and have two games in hand. This is an important game for us, with a win vital to pull us out of the danger zone.

Coach's comments
"I will never fault the attitude and commitment of our players – what we need to do is tighten, concentrate and be consistent on some aspects of our game.

We will be back at Raeburn Place this weekend. Everything is in our hands still."

1st XV v Selkirk

2nd XV v Selkirk A, Inverleith Park, 15:00
The 2nd XV also had a narrow win at Philiphaugh and will be hoping for a win this weekend after their disappointment last Saturday.

The game is scheduled to be played in Inverleith Park - any changes will be posted on social media and the website.

3rd XV v Forrester, away, 15:00
The 3rd XV have not played since 25 January, so they will be looking forward to finally getting a run out this weekend.

Onwards & upwards!
