Match Preview Prem13: Accies v Melrose

Saturday 8 December
1xt XV v Melrose, RP, 14:00
Our game against Melrose tomorrow is preceded by our annual Has-been's lunch, so no doubt the vocal support will add to the team's determination to make things difficult for second-placed Melrose.

Coach's Comments
"It is nice to get back to the comfort of RP for our last home game of 2018. Melrose, under Rob et al, are a well-drilled outfit who play a very balanced and structured game across their kick, run and set piece attack. We will need to be well disciplined, both as individuals and in system in defence, if we are to ensure we get a decent foothold in the game. We will continue with our attacking mindset on our side of the ball. I look forward to what an attack led by Jamie Loomes can and will look like on Saturday, in front of what will be a decent, if not rowdy, crowd for the annual old boys’ lunch.

"A new look front row takes to the field at the weekend, with Rory Simpson coming in to start with Duncan Morrison, accompanied by the debutant, Murray McCallum. With Richard Mill injured and Paddy Flood unavailable, Vinny Hart moves to fullback with Jamie Loomes stepping in at 10. Bobby Wilson returns from injury at 12, with Will Stephen, who impressed against Heriot’s, therefore moving to the bench."

1st XV v Melrose

2nd XV v Cartha QP, away, 14:00
Following a hard-fought win against Selkirk last week, the 2s are on the road again tomorrow, heading west to take on Cartha Queen's Park, assuming their pitch is not waterlogged. Any changes to this fixture will be announced on social media.

When we  met them at home we won 65-12, but that score does not reflect Cartha's persistence and are not expecting anything other than a tough encounter.

3rd XV v Penicuik, Inverleith Park, 14:00
With the second pitch out of action, the 3s will play their home game against Penicuik in Inverleith Park tomorrow. Having lost to Peebles last week - their only loss of the season so far - the 3rd XV wil be looking for a return to winning ways tomorrow.

Onwards & upwards!
