Match Preview Prem17: Accies v Watsonians

Saturday 26 January
1st XV v Watsonians, RP, 14:00
Saturday is the 1st XV's last home game of the season and, if the reports about Gavin MacColl QC's findings can be relied upon, potentially our last competitive match against a Super 6 club.

Although a betting man would probably not give us great odds for a win tomorrow - based on our relative league positions and Watsonians' 20-point winning margin at Myreside - we all know the vagaries of rugby and our boys will certainly be aiming for a win.

Coach's comments
"I am delighted to be giving Rory Jackson and Chris Thomson game-time this week, as a result of Jack Mann being with the Scotland U20s. Robbie Chalmers returns from injury to join the back three, alongside Harry Paterson and the ever-present Cammy Gray.

"We can take a sigh of relief following the news released through The Offside Line this week regarding the ruling on no relegation. Our aspirations of building a squad and a system that can go on and win the Championship in its first year is still on track and we can now go out and enjoy the last two games, free from the burden of the permutations of chasing evasive league points.

"Turning toward Watsonians at the weekend, there is no doubting the dangers they possess across the park and in particular in their backfield. However, an Accies’ side free from the constraints and pressures of relegation is a different beast. We can go out with the shackles off, go back to what we are about, and play the way we have done prior to the unnecessary and negative pressures placed on us earlier in the season through the ambiguous process of transitioning to Agenda 3."
