Match Preview Prem18: Currie v Accies

Saturday 2 March 2019
1st XV v Currie, Malleny Park, 15:00
It is five weeks since the 1st XV beat Watsonians at home in a game that showed real spirit and determination. We will need plenty more of the same if we are to upset Currie's plans to retain their second-place spot in the league but there is no doubt the squad will give it all they have got.

Coach's Comments
"Premiership debuts for Cameron McCrimmon, Liam Evans and Mungo Mason this week, plus the return of Shaun Gunn who will make his first appearance since sustaining an injury in one of our pre-season friendlies. Otherwise, we have managed to retain the bulk of the squad who have performed really well for us since Hawick and I believe we have selected the best team we can to face Currie.

"League position is out the window at the weekend as the game’s significance is a personal one for us. Three of our players will definitely be swept away with Super 6 next season so the game will be a farewell to them and also to Mark Appleson, who has been a huge part of what has underpinned our success in recent years and in securing our return to the Premiership. We will be focussed on working hard for them and for each other, as we aim to sign off what has been a challenging season for us with a performance and an outcome more deserving of who we are as people, as players and as a club."

1st XV v Currie

2nd XV v Kelso A, RP, 15:00
The 2s welcome Kelso A to Raeburn Place for what should be a warm-up for the final two games of the season, against second and third-placed Currie and Stew Mel. However, there is no complacency in the squad, who will come out and give Kelso a good game.

3rd XV v Leith, Academy Park, 15:00
The Entertainers are away to Leith this weekend. When we played them in October we won 115-0. However, they are fourth in the league and are not to be dismissed lightly. The pressure is all on the 3s, as they need to secure bonus point wins in all their remaining fixtures if they are to secure promotion at the end of the season.

Onwards & upwards!
