Match Report: Melrose Wasps v BATs S2

Sunday saw a tough game for the boys, going down 55-5 to a physically larger Melrose Wasps side. The away team came solely from Earlston High School and they have swept aside most of their opponents this season.

BATs did their usual of not really getting into full throttle until 40 minutes into the game so Callum, Snowflake and Malcy are working on tactics that will get the players thinking they are into the second half before they have even kicked off!

Seriously though, we were missing a number of experienced players and the boys who came in showed huge potential and commitment, with the more experienced players supporting and leading well. It was a tough gig and the boys emerged with great pride and an invitation for a return game.

We fielded players from six different schools. Aidan and Finn from Trinity Academy were outstanding in early games and Callum Wishart from Boughton High School stepped up well alongside more experienced team mates. Well done to everyone involved - it was a brilliant effort by players and coaches.

There was a decent crowd to watch and support. Thanks to the parents who made the trip to cheer us on. Thanks also to Melrose for their great hospitality, to the Edinburgh Academy for once again lending us a minibus and to Malcy for driving.
