Match Summary Cup QF: Accies v Jed-Forest

Results, Saturday 25 January
1st XV 40-20 Jed-Forest
2nd XV 28-0 Jed-Forest
3rd XV 52-7 Lasswade

1st XV 40-20 Jed-Forest 1st XV, Scottish Cup QF
A Cup game tends to provide an opportunity to leave the pressures of league rugby behind and, as a result, play some exciting rugby for the crowd. Last Saturday was no exception to that, with Jed's opening penalty points being countered by a hat-trick of Accies' tries. Despite us receiving a yellow card part-way through the first half, it was not until just before the break, and a second yellow for us, that Jed were about to come back, scoring a try of their own to make the half-time score 21-10.

We were a man down for the opening minutes of the second half, but that did not stop the Accies' try machine notching up another two, before Jed started to pull things back, scoring two unconverted tries in relatively quick succession. It was Accies, however, who had the final say, with one last try in the dying moments of the game.

Our 40-20 final score sees us through to the semi-finals of the Cup. The draw has now taken place and we will play Currie at Malleny Park on Saturday 28 March.

Our Jacoby Rugs Man of the Match was Richard Mill, not least for his conversion rate (five from six). Richard is kindly sponsored by Graham + Sibbald.

2nd XV 28-0 Jed-Forest 2nd XV
Unfortunately, Jed were unable to field a team for this fixture so we win 28-0 by default.

3rd XV 52-7 Lasswade 2nd XV
The Entertainers were obviously in fine form on Saturday and no doubt those watching will have enjoyed the spectacle. Rumour has it there may even have been three Stewart brothers in action in the end! A great chance for some of our 3rd XV players to get a run out after far too long - and the five league points will most definitely not go amiss.

Onwards & upwards!
