Match Summary Prem12: Heriot's v Accies

Results, Saturday 1 December 2018
1st XV 5-31 Heriot's
2nd XV 23-12 Selkirk
3rd XV 22-36 Peebles

Accies 1st XV 5-31 Heriot's
We knew Heriot's would throw everything they had at us after we ran them close in the Cup and two early tries in quick succession raised fears of a repeat of the trouncing we let them inflict on us at Raeburn Place earlier in the season. However, we regrouped and presented a far stronger defence for the rest of the game. Our attacking play was not lacking either, but despite pressing Heriot's on numerous occasions, we only managed to cross the gain line once, when Cammy Gray intercepted a Heriot's pass and sprinted 95m to dot down.

Despite another loss, this was a good performance by the whole squad, with the team clearly giving their all for each other. If we can keep bringing this level of determination to our performances, a win will eventually come.

Man of the Match was Club Captain, Jamie Sole, who led by example as usual and made some great attacking runs. Jamie is kindly sponsored by Dropkick Murphy's.

2nd XV 23-12 Selkirk
With so many injuries across our full playing squad, there were inevitable conseuences for both the 2s and 3s last week. The 2nd XV went to Selkirk with just 16 players but toughed it out to continue their winning streak, although not managing a try bonus for only the second time this season. It was a performance that showed grit and perserverance.

3rd XV 22-36 Peebles
The 3s faced a tough away game to Peebles, the only other team in the league not to have lost a game this season. With a weakened side due to injuries and unavailability, it is a testament to our team managers and our 'social' players that we were able not only to fulfil this fixture, but to give Peebles a run for their money. Although we lost out in the end, with no fresh legs to bring on, the return fixture in the spring should be a different matter.

Onwards & upwards!
