Match Summary Prem13: Accies v Melrose

Results, Saturday 8 December 2018
1st XV 17-48 Melrose
2nd XV 32-0 Cartha Queen's Park
3rd XV 81-5 Penicuik

Accies 1st XV 17-48 Melrose
This was another game where our opponent's try tally did not reflect the workrate and determination of our team. Unfortunately, Melrose are a well-drilled outfit and it was clear to see why they are contenders for the Premiership title this season. However, we scored three tries against them, including, for once, a penalty try awarded to us instead of the other way round, and our team once again played their hearts out for each other and the Club.

A full match report from The Offside Line is available here.

Man of the Match was Michael Badenhorst. Michael scored two of our three tries, including one from a great cut-up of the Melrose defence in the final moments of the game. He is kindly sponsored by Thistly Cross Cider.

Penalty try

2nd XV 32-0 Cartha Queen's Park
Despite the scoreline, this was a tough match, with a five-point result ground out in the mud to retain our second place in the league.

3rd XV 81-5 Penicuik
The 3s were down to 15 men by the start of the game but still managed to romp home against a game Penicuik side. We are second in the league, behind Peebles who are the only side we have lost to this season. If we can win the return fixture against them later in the spring, our points difference could see us win the league so big wins like this are important.

Onwards & upwards!
