Match Summary Prem17: Accies v Watsonians

Saturday 26 January
Accies 1st XV 19-14 Watsonians
The conditions underfoot on Saturday were not great for running rugby and, consequently, it was not a high scoring game. Most of the first half was played in the middle of the field, with neither team able to make much ground. Watsonians did make a few breaks, but these were well contained by us, with one exception - Watsonians' try providing the only points of the first half.

It had been a strong half for us defensively, but our attacking gears kicked in after the break, with three tries to just one more from the away side. With the score set at 19-14 in our favour, the last five minutes were extremely tense, as Watsonians played phase after phase on our line. With hearts in mouths, the Accies' crowd could hardly bear to watch, but our defence was phenomenal, keeping out every attack against all the odds. Finally, Watsonians fumbled the ball and we kicked it out for our second win of the season.

It was a sweet victory for squad and supporters alike, after a season of great effort but little reward, made all the sweeter for being against a Super 6 Club.
