New BATs' Development Officer

As some of you may be aware, BATs' current Development Officer, Callum Black, is leaving BATs in mid-September to join the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Callum will remain involved with BATs as a volunteer, continuing to help in areas such as their relationship with sponsors, their age-group teams and organising events.

BATs have conducted a very thorough recruitment process to find Callum’s successor. They were delighted to receive 20 applications from some excellent candidates and this week they have confirmed the appointment of Ross Young to be their next Development Officer.

Ross (or Rosco as he is better known) has, most recently, been the Academy Manager with Boroughmuir RFC and has been responsible for establishing them as the dominant force in Scottish age-grade club rugby. Rosco is a local boy, having attended Broughton High School, and his mother still lives in north Edinburgh.

Rosco will start with BATs on 23 September. He will take the lead on the Broughton HS School of Rugby and the ACE Academy, as well as working with other schools and coaching the age group performance squads.

There will be an opportunity to say goodbye to Callum at the BATs Race Night on 27 September and to thank him for his huge contribution to the growth and success of BATs over the past few years and wish him well in his new career.

You are all very welcome to attend what should be a good evening. For more details about the Race Night and to book places, please contact Iain Berthinussen: iain@edinburghbatsrugby.co.uk.
