Peebles 12-32 Accies XV

In a game arranged late Friday evening a young Accies XV beat Peebles at the Gytes 32-12 on Saturday. The arrangements were made so late Accies could only find two replacements for the game!

Accies opened the scoring after 10 minutes with a try by Ryan Godsmark, followed by a Fraser Gillies penalty (8-0). Five minutes later, Ryan Godsmark put his twin, Nyle in for a try, in exactly the same place as he had scored.

Peebles came more into the game and Accies resisted a period of pressure in their 22, but lost Callum Reid to a Yellow Card five minutes before half time.

Just on half time, Accies charged down a clearance kick and Nyle Godsmark pounced to scored his second try, under the posts. Gillies converted to make the half time score 20-0

A couple of minutes after returning to the field, Callum Reid showed his power breaking a number of tackles to score Accies fourth try.

Peebles, who never gave up all game, got the next two tries, one which was converted, to take the score to 25-12.

With the last play of the game, Gilles took a pass 25 meters out to score by the posts, which he converted to make the final score 32-12.

It was a good workout for an Accies XV that had a number of young 2XV players in the side. It was also good to see Alex Blair manage 75 minutes - the first time for two years - and to see Jonny McSorley play his first full game this season.

The Accies XV was - 15 Ruairidh Young; 14 Ryan Godsmark, 13 Iain Berthinussen, 12 Nyle Godsmark, 11 Alex Blair; 10 Fraser Gillies, 9 Alex Black; 1 Jonny McSorley, 2 Fraser Rawlinson, 3 Chris Murray, 4 Rowan Seydak, 5 Max Gordon; 6 Callum Reid, 7 Cameron Simpson, 8 Tom Drennan.

Replacements 16 Callum Black, 17 Greg Campbell.
