Peter Ireland, RIP

We are saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Peter Ireland on 21st July. Pete played and coached at the Club in the late 1980s and early 1990s and will be remembered as a brave and committed player and one of Accies great club men.

Pete played for each team at the Club and always gave his all. A standard he set when in charge of the grueling Tuesday night fitness sessions on the old dimly-lit training pitch which ran along the road at Raeburn Place - no slacking there as Pete drove players very hard with his trademark bark.

A tremendous rugby man, his enthusiasm for the game of rugby rubbed off on his team mates and the rest of the club. He was the life and soul of the post-match gatherings in the Ben Tod Lounge and often the centre of much hilarity and nonsense. Many will have extremely fond memories of Pete, particularly the famous "A Bridge Too Far" tour to Bonar Bridge in 1990!

Our thoughts and condolences are with Joan, Euan, Paul and all friends and family at this sad time.
