President's Blog - 12/12/13

This is our 1st XV's 14th Premiership or B&I Cup game on the trot since the season began on the last Saturday of August. After Saturday, we have one more to go when we play Melrose in the Premiership at the Greenyards on 21st December. Then we get a short break before we meet London Scottish on 11th January 2014. It is some time since we had such a long run of games and our players are feeling it, hence some are rested this week so they are ready for next week's important game at the Greenyards. Back-to-back fixtures with London Welsh were always going to be a big test for us, so we are pleased to see that Edinburgh Rugby have made a number of Pros and EDPs available again this week to bolster our forwards. You can read more about that here.

There are a couple of events before the New Year you should be aware of - the BATs Christmas Charity Lunch & Carols and the annual game against the Co-Ops.

The Charity Lunch & Carols will be on Sunday 22nd December, 12 for 12.30pm. Our carol singing will be accompanied by none other than The Jedburgh Instrumental Brass Band! Cost for the Christmas lunch with wines, guest speakers and guest brass band is a ridiculously reasonable £30 - tickets will be allocated on a first come basis and we are taking bookings now. Dress code is jacket & tie and it's over-18s only. Please call Jason Parrott on 0779 948 4863 or e-mail here to book your place(s).

There is no home game next Saturday (21st December), as the 2nd XV are away as well, but we do have our final 'feast' of rugby for 2013 on Friday 27th December, when we will put out an Accies XV to play our annual game against the Co-Optimists, ko 2pm.

I do hope you can make it to Raeburn Place to support your Club against London Welsh. The team have a difficult task and your support can make a difference to them.

Regards

John
