2nd XV Head Coach

The Edinburgh Academical Football Club (EAFC) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and energetic 2nd XV Head Coach to join its senior rugby coaching staff.

The oldest rugby club in Scotland and the second oldest in the World, EAFC is about to enter an exciting new chapter in its history with the redevelopment of its Raeburn Place home, creating a first-class facility for both sport and the wider community’s benefit under the long-term stewardship of the Raeburn Place Foundation.

For season 2019/20 the Club has assembled an exciting and competitive squad as its 1st XV again competes in Scotland’s leading amateur club competitions, the Tennent’s Premiership and Cup, and its 2nd XV plays in the East of Scotland’s top 2nd XV league.

EAFC’s is also committed to fulfilling a broader social and community role through the work of its partner BATs Rugby, which works across the north Edinburgh community delivering a range of activities designed to increase participation, building skills, great behaviours and lifelong values. Further, the Accies Centre of Excellence (ACE) which is focused on improving the individual skills, standards and knowledge of the young players aged from 14 to 18 in the north of Edinburgh.

As a key member of the Club’s senior coaching staff, you will work collaboratively with the broader coaching team and have “hands-on” coaching involvement and selection input across EAFC’s three senior XV’s. On game day, you will lead all aspects of the 2nd XV match-day preparation and performance, supported on a rotational basis by one of the 1st XV coaching team.

Experience of coaching in a performance environment is desirable, as is a recognised coaching qualification at least working towards UKCC level 3 or equivalent. The Club will provide assistance and mentoring to further your coach education and obtain new qualifications. The senior coaching team will also meet regularly throughout the season to assess the Club’s progress and to support each individual in their own development.
