Raeburn Place Development Update – Licence Applications

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED

The Club has recently applied to the City of Edinburgh Council’s Licensing Board for alcohol licences for the new development.

In addition to the main licence for the clubhouse and function rooms, we have applied for licences for three of the retail units, based on probable future use. Having the licences in place will increase the attractiveness of the units to potential tenants.

The four applications are:

  • Ref 288952 – Multi-function sporting facility and stand
  • Ref 288884 – Restaurant
  • Ref 288892 – Retail premises consisting of general grocery sales and off sales
  • Ref 288875 – Restaurant/ice cream parlour

The detailed terms of the applications can be viewed at the Council offices (standard practice for licence applications) but in general terms we have applied for licences until 1am, with an extension during the festival. This is the same as the licence held by the Raeburn House Hotel.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE CLUB BY WRITING TO THE LICENSING BOARD IN FAVOUR OF THE APPLICATIONS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIVE IN EDINBURGH

Letters should be sent BEFORE 13 APRIL to:

Please include all four applications in your letter. You can simply say you support the applications but you could also include some of the following points:

  • The Club is an existing licence holder, has upheld the conditions of its licence and has not been associated with any licensing issues
  • There are already premises in the vicinity with similar licences and they have not led to disruption or a disturbance of the local area
  • The Club is asking for the same licensed hours as already apply to neighbouring businesses
  • The new facilities will help boost the local economy by generating employment and bringing new visitors to the area but licenced premises are required to bring this about

An example letter can be viewed here.

The Licensing Board will consider the applications on Monday 27 April. It is important that they receive a fair reflection of the support that exists for the development so PLEASE WRITE TO THE LICENSING BOARD TODAY.

Many thanks for your support.
