This weeks fixtures - 14 December

Accies v London Welsh, RP, ko 2pm

I cannot remember when we played the same side on consecutive Saturdays, as we do this week when London Welsh make their first visit to Raeburn Place.

Last week we saw what a good team they were - and we know we have a big task in hand. They are doing a day trip to Edinburgh, 8.30 flight up, 7.30 flight back - let's hope no air traffic control problems, like last Saturday, or fog like the last two days - at least for the flight to Edinburgh!

The coaches have made a number of changes to our starting team this week, taking account of players who need a break, those made available by Edinburgh Rugby and those with niggling injuries.

In the forwards Alex Allan and Stuart McInally both start this week and so Phil Cringle and Michael Liness are on the bench. Mike Coman, a former New Zealand under-19 internationalist and Hawke’s Bay ITM captain, makes his debut for the Club in the back row, replacing our captain Greg Campbell, who takes a week off with a knee injury.

Hamish Watson returns, following a week off after a bad cut on his head whilst training at Murrayfield the previous week, and so Tom Stuart goes to the bench.

The starting and replacement backs are the same as last Saturday and centre Iain Berthinussen takes over as captain in Campbell's absence.

Our team is - Jamie Sole; Nyle Godsmark, Ewan Campbell, Iain Berthinussen, Jamie Farndale; Iain Chisholm, Alex Black; Alex Allan, Stuart McInally, Lewis Niven; Robert McApline, Alex Toolis; Callum Reid, Hamish Watson, Mike Coman.

Replacements - Phil Cringle, Michael Liness, Duncan Morrison, Ronan Seydak, Tom Stuart, Mike Campbell, Sam Pecqueur.

Jonny Else, our head coach, said; 'London Welsh are an impressive outfit, who are well coached with talented players who play rugby with width and pace. Although this is a tough mission – our squad relish this challenge and are ready to attack with ball in hand at Raeburn Place this Saturday.'

Accies 2nds v Selkirk 2nds, RP, ko 2pm

Our 2nds will be looking to bounce back after letting a winning situation against Ayr go begging last week. That loss allowed Ayr to leap-frog us into second place in the league - and moved us down to 4th with Gala also winning.

Selkirk 2nds also lost last week and sit in 6th place, 15 points below us.

Our team to play Selkirk 2nds includes 3 ex-Selkirk players Ryan and Alex Godsmark , which should add some spice to the game.

Selkirk are never an easy pushover, but we need a win if we want to continue our push for the top of National Reserve League 1.

The game will be played on the 2XV pitch at Raeburn Place, ko 2pm.

Haddington 2nds v Development XV, ko 2pm

Both these teams lost last weekend, though our 7-20 turnover looks nothing to Haddington's defeat by 100-0!

Surprisingly, even with that large walloping, Haddington are one place and 6 points above us in the league - both played 10, with us winning 5 to their 7.

We need to up our game this week and show some of the class some of our players have.
