This week's fixtures - 21 December

Melrose v Accies, Greenyards, ko 2pm

Our game against Melrose on Saturday is our 14th Premiership game of the season - only four left over the next three months - and the last one of 2013. Like all games at the moment, this is one we need to win to ease ourselves away from the couple of teams just below us in the league - Hawks and Hawick.

A year ago at this time of the season we had played 11, won four and had 26 points. This year we have played 13, won six, have 30 points and are fifth in the league. Melrose have had a good season winning 10 of their 13 games and are second on 47 points. When we played earlier in the season at Raeburn Place we came out on top, 29-21, the second time running we have beaten them, having also won last time we played at the Greenyards.

There are a few changes to the team this week. Ruairidh Bonner, Greg Campbell and Jamie McCarthy return after recovering from knocks and Lee Jones has been made available by Edinburgh. However, we lose Iain Berthinussen, Jamie Sole and Alex Black through injury and illness.

In the backs, Iain Chisholm moves to full back, Nyle Godsmark moves to the centre, with Jones replacing him on the wing, and Mike Campbell comes in at scrum half.

In the forwards, Greg Campbell, McCarthy, Michael Liness and Phil Cringle replace various Edinburgh pros who were released to play for us just for B&I games.

Our team to play Melrose is: Iain Chisholm; Lee jones, Ewen Campbell, Nyle Godsmark, Jamie Farndale; Ruairidh Bonner, Mike Campbell; Alex Allan, Michael Liness, Phil Cringle; Alex Toolis, Jamie McCarthy; Greg Campbell, Hamish Watson, Callum Reid.

Replacements: Shaun Strudwick, Clement Lacour, Tom Stuart, Josh Pecqueur and Sam Pecqueur.

Jonny Else said: “Put simply, we must be at our very best this Saturday. Melrose are on a good run, playing good rugby and challenging for the title.  The Greenyards is one of the best places in the club game to go and play rugby. We must rise to the occasion and ensure we play our brand of rugby and execute well under the pressure that Melrose will apply.”

Hills 2nd XV v Accies 2nd XV, Glasgow, ko 2pm

Our 2nd XV travels over to Glasgow to play Hillhead Jordanhill 2nd XV. After getting back on their winning way last weekend, our 2nds look forward to playing Hills or the first time this year. Hills defeated the scheduled earlier game as they had no front row available.

We are second in the league after last week's matches and Hills are firmly at the bottom, not having won a game this season and conceding 829 points so far in 15 games.

With the team we have out, we should win easily, but stranger things have happened...

Our team to play Hills 2ndXV is: Kieran Scoular; Marcus Black, Hector Tulloch, Rory Watt, Alex Godsmark; Alan Sutherland, Ryan Godsmark; Jonny Mcsorley, Murray Devine, Russell Laughland; Ronan Seydak, Toby Binnian; Robin Snape, Rory Simpson, Declan Dinnan.

Replacements: Murray Bryce, Fraser Smeaton and Jack Marples
