The Raeburn Place Foundation (RPF) is a financially independent charity, established in 2014, whose objectives are the advancement of public participation in sport and the advancement of heritage. Our aim is to improve lives through the provision of and access to sport, sports programmes and healthy recreation for all, irrespective of background and ability and celebrate the significance of Raeburn Place as the birthplace of international rugby.
Edinburgh BATs Rugby (BATs) is a community amateur sports club based at Raeburn Place and operating across north Edinburgh. Established in 2004 by Broughton RFC, the Edinburgh Academical FC and Trinity Accies RFC, BATs encourage participation and nurtures talent from primary and secondary school age groups through to district and national representation, working both in schools and at a club level, building skills and lifelong values.
Founded in 1824, The Edinburgh Academy has been at the forefront of Rugby Football since its inception. The school acquired the playing fields of Raeburn Place in 1854, and the Academical Football Club was formed by its former pupils in 1857. The ‘Accies’ have played at Raeburn Place ever since and, as tradition dictates, play in the school colours of blue and white. Over the years, the Edinburgh Academy has produced talented players who have gone on to play with distinction for Accies, with many achieving representative and international honours.
Nuffield Health have been our official health and fitness partner since 2021 and provide complimentary memberships to each of our 1st XV squad. This partnership is vital to ensure our players can prepare for each season and rehabilitate from injuries and Nuffield Health are a key part in our goal to become the best amateur rugby club in Scotland.

During their 40 years in the Teamwear industry, they have cultivated a strong reputation and are proud of the personal service they offer clubs. They are exclusively aligned with the Macron brand and were delighted to become the official Macron Store Edinburgh, providing top quality kit alongside an expert service. Macron are a world leading teamwear brand used by many international and professional rugby clubs, most notably Scotland, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
