Please ensure great care is taken to prevent loss or damage to avoid unnecessary expense, ensure shared equipment is used consciencely and returned promptly so other year groups do not go without.

All Accies Youth and Senior kit and equipment will should be stored in the main store room at Raeburn Place. The store should be open for training and games and can there will be a lockbox with a key for access outside this. There will be shelving and clearly marked areas for shared and team equipment and all year groups are expected keep the store room neat and tidy.

YEAR GROUP EQUIPMENT

Each year group will be provided with a particular quantity, size and colour of balls and bibs based on their age-and-stage along with a first aid kit and a year group flag. These should be stored on the shelving provided and year groups should take care to ensure they retain this kit across the season

SHARED EQUIPMENT

All other items should be shared by year groups and, in line with curriculum, used on a rotational basis to vary sessions. Some top tips on particular items and you should consider the STEP article to help you decide when to use (or not use) particular items of equipment:

  • Tackle bags/shields - A useful item for starting tackling or breakdowns, or working on defensive shape or increasing intensity with older year groups. You should plan to work in smaller groups which should negate the need for more than 3-4 of these items per session.

  • Agility Poles/Hurdles/Ladders - Good for early year relay races or focusing on technique in older year. Remember we are encouraging fun and spatial awareness so be conscious of use to avoid too much prescription in sessions.

  • Mixed Balls - There will be a tub of different sports balls i.e. tennis, cricket, basketball etc. Best used to mix up games or drill to give kids a different focus and challenge.

  • Cones - A necessity to help setup zone circuits and drills. Try to keep cones in colour order so zones can be setup in colour order for easy coaching and reference with kids. Take care about the number of cones and remember for minis year group a fun session should include a reasonable flex on whether kids are out or not!

TIP: Remember to encourage your players to help collect equipment and remember less is usually more when it comes to equipment use.
