Annual Club Dinner 2025
We welcomed 150 members, partners and guests to celebrate the 2022/23 season on Friday 19th May at our Annual Club Dinner and we were treated to some top speeches and entertainment to celebrate the close of another fantastic season.
The atmosphere at this season’s Annual Club Dinner was really positive with everyone in attendance making a good go of celebrating the Club’s achievements from the season. Our guest speaker, Craig Chalmers, gave us a very interesting and often amusing insight into his time playing for Scotland and the British and Irish Lions and many thanks again to Craig and his partner Gillian for coming along. Pete Burns did a great job of comparing the evening and we’re very grateful to Pete.
Our President, Ewan Alexander, presented the playing awards with great assistance from coaches Iain Berthinussen and Ross Young. Well done to each of the following awards winners:
Young Player of the Year - Seb Stephen (Sponsored by Conifox Adventure Park)
Most Improved Player of the Year - Will Catterall (Sponsored by Dalply Facades & Davidson Timber)
3rd XV Player of the Year - Freddie Lilly
2nd XV Player of the Year - Scott Cusack
1st XV Player of the Year - Calum Crookshank (Sponsored by The Kohler-Parrott Family)
7s Player of the Year - Max Wallace (Sponsored by J’aime Ma Femme)
Sponsors’ Player of the Year - George Davis (Sponsored by The Inwood Family)
Players' Player of the Year - George Davis (Sponsored by The Inwood Family)
Cole Imrie reached a milestone this season, notching up his 100th appearance for the 1st XV. I’m afraid Cole wasn’t able to make it along on the night but he now qualifies for a Cap, awarded to all players reaching the 100th appearance mark. A big well done to Cole as well.
We also wished our best to Malcy McVie and Troy MacLachlan, who stood down from their roles as Director of Rugby and 1st XV Manager respectively. Each made a significant contribution to the club and have our gratitude and formalities were brought to a close with a huge thank you to the many volunteers, supporters and members that come together to keep the Club going and working towards our ongoing success.
There is no denying that the 2024/25 season has been a challenging one with our 1st XV being relegated from the top tier after a very competitive season in the Premiership. We finished with an excellent 2nd place finish in the Kings of the 7s and securing the Macari Cup and our first 7s title at Jed-forest. We look forward to next year with our new Director of Rugby in place and an appetite to bounce back as swiftly as possible!
